Rolling Along..

Bless me father, for I have sinned.   I have not worked on my blog since July.  hehh.

OK.  I am not a religious person.  But that just seemed to fit the mood I got about not working on my blog.

 RRReallyyyy??  We're moving again??

Why the title "Rolling Along"??

I have moved twice since September. Yep.  And it's only the beginning of November!

It all started with my having to go out on partial disability and the fact that insurance companies just don't care.   But that's a very long story that I don't want to go into.

Even sadder, my possessions are still scattered about San Diego County.  Some went to a storage place I had to rent in Carlsbad, some at my family's house in San Diego, and finally, some in my new very old place.

So it really feels like three moves, and still continuing.  But, over time, I will slowly get everything moved and will finally be settled in.  I'm just grateful that my family has had my back since this all started.  Or I should say, when I finally told them that I was looking for another place to live because I had to move out of the place I'd only lived at for a year.  I still hadn't unpacked all the boxes from the previous move for crissakes.

I didn't want anyone to know that I was worried about having to live in my car... so I just didn't say anything.

Wait.... What??!!  Noooo.. why do you have those boxes???
On top of my chronic health problems, I dislocated some ribs (two separate times-two separate sides of ribcage) during my frantic search for somewhere to live.  After that, I finally did tell my family because I just couldn't take it anymore!!

Eventually, I did find another place to live. Here are some more pictures of Penny and what I think might be going on in her little cat brain now.

this isn't so bad..

heyyyy, not bad at all...

are we there  yet?

are we leaving?
are we staying?
bowl only half full...
mmm
hmmm.. these thingys are familiar..

So cat is settling in to her familiar routine and so am I.  All the other stuff will come together eventually.

My art supplies are here.  My coffee pot is here.  My refrigerator has food in it.  I have a couch/bed to sleep on. And the cat is purring..

Life is not so bad.

Comic-Con Art Show 2013 San Diego, CA

Comic-Con 2013 Art Show - Cindy Rodriguez
I have nine new framed paintings on display and for sale at Comic-Con, in the Sails Pavilion inside the San Diego Convention Center.  They're framed in old recycled barn wood, inspired by The Walking Dead and, of course, the walkers in the barn.  There are also signed digital photo prints available for sale of some of my other paintings.

If you're there, please stop by and have a look!

At this very moment I'm stuck on a train.  There are children behind me that were having a meltdown.  They are a little calmer now but I have earphones stuffed into my ears to drown out any other squeaks and squawks that might emit.  You know how it is with kids, lots of mood swings.

The train departed 2 1/2 hours late from Emeryville in Northern California.  San Diego seems so very far away.  We won't arrive in Los Angeles (most probably) until after our train connection there has long departed.  Since that would be the last train for the evening which would have arrived at our destination in the wee hours of Monday morning, I have lost hope.  And one of the children behind us has started to caterwaul.

I'm going to attempt to sketch and will post here if I don't lose my mind.

And time goes on....

It's been a long time since I've posted anything.  This past year has been more difficult than usual.

I moved farther away from my day job in order to save money. Paying less rent is a good thing. The trade off is I've now decreased my available time to do anything else but go to work and come home because my commute is now over two hours each way.  I have started sketching while I'm commuting (train or bus or both) and I'd like to use them for a project perhaps.

I knew it would be tough. I knew that it would take a lot out of me. My health has not been so great either so my energy level has been low.   But, I also knew it was the only way I'd be able to cut back on my living costs enabling me to pay down my debts quicker.  It is a step toward future changes.

At times I feel like I am at a standstill.  And then I realize my mission is to get everything in order so that I can go on to the next phase of my life, restructure how I live, and get painting.

Wallowing through the Sea of Stuck

"Lucid Dream" Cindy Rodriguez
feeling utterly lost
wallowing through the Sea of Stuck
wondering when the curse of this feeble human shell will lift away
creative embers smolder back to fire
blasting their way out of the mind's eye
sparks, gleefully laughing at the past of languishing despair
images trapped inside
finally able to fly free
to live in this world

Life and stuff

My poor little blog. I have neglected you so. So much has happened since I last posted and I didn't post anything at all.

A few of the changes are that I am now an empty nester, and catless too.

I promise to post by the end of this week. There, I've given myself a deadline.

I think my insomnia is now ending so I can stop obsessing and go to sleep.
